Buying at Auction

## Buying property at auction Buying at auction is different from a private treaty purchase. Preparation matters: read the property particulars, understand the auction conditions and take independent legal and financial advice before you commit. ### 1. Find a property Browse the published lots and review the guide price, location, tenure, photographs and any available supporting information. A guide price is an indication, not a valuation or a guarantee of the final sale price. ### 2. Arrange your checks Arrange a viewing where available. Ask your solicitor to review the legal pack and raise any questions before the auction. Confirm finance, deposit requirements, fees, completion timetable and any special conditions. ### 3. Register your interest Create an account and use the property page to request a viewing or register your interest. Any registration process, identity checks and bidding permissions will be confirmed by the auction team for the relevant sale. ### 4. Understand the auction terms Read the conditions of sale carefully. If you are the successful bidder, you may be legally committed to proceed under the auction terms. Do not bid unless you are ready and able to complete. ### 5. After the auction Follow the instructions issued by the auction team and your solicitor. Completion dates, deposits and other obligations are governed by the contract and special conditions for the lot. ### Important This guide is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. The legal pack, conditions of sale and contract for the specific property take precedence. Obtain independent professional advice before bidding.
